General Information

WHEN:

June 3rd (Wedding Ceremony w/Dinner) - June 4th 2022 (Post-Wedding BBQ)

The wedding event will take place over the span of two days, Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June. Yeah, you read it correctly. We're doing a 2-day wedding event. 😅

WHERE:

Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia

HOW TO GET TO SLOVENIA:

We assume ya’ll be flying in somehow! While Slovenia has an international airport close to its capital Ljubljana, it’s typically the easiest and often most affordable to fly to one of the large neighbouring airports such as Venice (Italy), or Vienna (Austria). Both of those airports have plentiful transport options to travel forward to Ljubljana.

For folks travelling from Ireland/within Europe, we recommend flying with either Aer Lingus or Ryanair to Venice or Vienna and then make your way to Ljubljana. For folks travelling across the pond, we recommend to do a bit of research as you may have flights bringing you directly into Slovenia, but it’s likely that flying via Venice and/or Vienna will make most sense.

NEAREST AIRPORTS:

Ljubljana Airport (Slovenia's International Airport), Slovenia

Vienna International Airport, Austria

Venice International Airport (Marco Polo Airport), Italy

Venice Treviso Airport, Italy

Zagreb Airport, Croatia

UP FOR AN ADVENTURE:

Why not make it an even more unique vacation!? For the more adventurous types we recommend to start in Venice for a night or two of romantic canal walks, then spend some time in Slovenia (Ljubljana and surroundings + Slovenj Gradec for the wedding) and then leave via Vienna, where you can again spend a day or two exploring what the city has to offer. That way you’ll get to experience three different countries in a short period of time and in a totally manageable way!

HOW TO GET AROUND SLOVENIA:

To be frank and honest, spending a few days in Ljubljana may be exactly what you're looking for. It's a foodie heaven with rich history, great architecture and a super easy going vibe. Here's some info on what Slovenia's capital has to offer: https://www.visitljubljana.com.

If you want to spend time outside Ljubljana, renting may be the most recommended way to travel around Slovenia. If you’re flying into and returning from the same airport (Vienna, etc.), you may wish to rent a car there already. Alternatively, renting a car in Ljubljana is always an option, too.

It is, however, totally manageable to enjoy what the country has to offer without a car, too! If you don’t wish to do the whole rental hassle, you’ll have equally great time! Ljubljana has plentiful options for amazing day trips via public transport, so you won’t be missing out if you decide to not drive on your own!

If you aren’t renting a car, feel free to get in touch and we’ll be able to help you to guide you how to get from Ljubljana to our neck of the woods for the wedding!

WHERE TO STAY FOR THE WEDDING WEEKEND:

Wedding venues are near Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia, which is about 80-90 minutes drive from Ljubljana. Due to scarcity of options all guests are advised to avail of the hotel accommodation as arranged by Pia and Liam. More info can be found in the Accommodation for the wedding section on this website.
